| Fayzah
(see photo above right) has been a life long student of dance, and was
introduced
to Argentine tango in 1997. She has had the pleasure of studying with various
renouned teachers from the US, Argentina, and Europe. In
2003 Fayzah co-founded Tango Puerto Rico along with Alisa Schlesinger from
Los Angeles. They hosted milongas & practicas, organized events, and
taught ongoing tango classes. Their class curriculum emphasized developing
a strong partner connection, and good body mechanics. Her roles in tango
include coaching, organizing, teaching, performing, and constant study.
Kendra (see photo above left) is obtaining a master of science in dance/movement therapy. She comes from northern California, where she has studied many forms of dance, including Argentine tango. As a co-director of Tango Rennaissance she helped organize the Neo Tango Sacramento Festivals in 2005 & 2006. She has hosted monthly milongas with Tango Alternativa, taught tango & improvisation classes, & moderated guided practicas. Currently she is the co-host of NYC's Tango X-Sessions, along with Fayzah. Together, Fayzah & Kendra strive to foster a fun, creative, & progressive learning environment through various games and directives (i.e. musicality, embellishments, quality of movements, sacadas, colgadas, etc.). Participants are encouraged to explore themes, in an attempt to better understand Argentine tango. This gives dancers a chance to develop their voice, to listen, and to connect. Fayzah & Kendra are equal opportunity moderators who encourage dancers of all levels to participate and share.
