Fayzah is well-versed in various styles of bellydance, but her focus and love is Tribal Fusion which she performs and teaches in New York City. Fayzah's personal style is unique. Her dance is characterized by a powerful fluidity and musicality, precise technique and muscle control, smooth waves and crisp pops, hits, & isolations. Her deep integration of diverse fusion dance elements produces an evocative, graceful, and eloquent style.
In addition to her weekly Tribal Fusion classes and workshops on Tribal Fusion technique, and fluidity, Fayzah has led her NYC troupe, the Aurea Dancers (comprised of some of her students), in performances at dance concerts and special events. The Aurea Dancers are featured in the “Tarot Bellydance” DVD, on the World Dance NY label.
Fayzah’s choreographic works have a wide range of theatrical elements, characters, & remarkable costuming. She expresses stories through her dancing, and also taps into her own purity of expression. She explores a broad vocabulary of various dance genres and skillfully blends together many elements to create a unique Tribal Fusion style. She seeks to inspire each of her students to find their own personal expression and way of adopting a dance style.
In addition to Tribal Fusion bellydance, Fayzah has extensive experience performing Folkloric and Cabaret bellydance & Electric Tribal-Fusion, as well as her own innovation of Tango/Bellydance Fusion. Fayzah was given the name "Chameleon" by her first teacher, Kathryn Ferguson, for her ability to perform different styles effectively.
Fayzah is a lover of finger cymbals, and enjoys using them in her performances. Her experience as a DJ, also lends to her musicality.
Her travels in Egypt, have given Fayzah an added creative perspective, and enhanced her cultural understanding and commitment to developing her dance skills to meet the highest technical and aesthetical standards of contemporary and traditional bellydance. This inspiration and uncompromising commitment to quality in movement is the passion that Fayzah shares generously in her classes and workshops.
Along with her thriving solo performance career, Fayzah has contributed to productions by NYC creative collectives such as Bellyqueen, the Neville Dance Theater and Venus Uprising. Her solo work is featured in the "Fantasy Bellydance" DVD, “Tarot Bellydance” DVD (World Dance New York), “Bellyqueen: The Bellydance Experience” DVD (Hollywood Music Center), &
The “Memento Muerto” DVDs (NDT).

The Aurea Dancers- 

The Aurea Dancers are a Tribal-Fusion Dance ensemble directed by Fayzah, comprised of her students who have dedicated time to studying the Tribal-Fusion dance form. They are dancers who have an interest in expression, performance, connecting with others in a group, working hard, and training in the art. Choreographies are created in part from combos learned in Fayzah's classes.
